TECfusions, a US data center operator, and Chile's Baeza Group plan a data center campus of up to 100 megawatts of power on a 40-acre site owned by the Baeza family in Puente Alto, in southeast Santiago, Chile. The companies signed a binding letter of intent on May 7, 2025, the framework for a future joint venture pending due diligence, and the campus would start with 10 megawatts of capacity plus 10 more available from the local grid.

TECfusions estimates the build will cost about $13 million per megawatt, putting the first 20 megawatts at roughly $260 million and the full build above $1 billion, and describes the campus as AI ready with a zero water approach relying on natural gas. At 100 megawatts the campus would nearly match the 173 megawatts installed across the 43 data centers in the Santiago Metropolitan Region at the end of 2024, most of them in northern communes such as Quilicura, Colina and Huechuraba.

"Partnering with TECfusions allows us to retain a stake in our family's land while unlocking its full potential for Chile's digital future," said Eduardo Baeza, CEO of the Baeza Group. TECfusions named permits, environmental concerns, water use, energy consumption, connectivity and the community as its main risks in Chile, and said construction would employ 500 to 1,500 people at its peak and the finished campus 200 to 500.

Water has shaped data center debates in Chile; Google halted work on its own planned data center in the country to rethink its water use after concerns about scarcity. TECfusions estimated 18 to 20 months from filing an environmental impact study to construction permits and said it expects the first phase to run within a year of groundbreaking; no update on the joint venture or the permits has been published since the May 2025 land deal.
