The one data center planned in the North Denmark Region is Prime Data Centers' campus on Energivej in Sæby, south of Frederikshavn. Prime, based in Santa Clara, California, announced it in February 2023 as its first data center outside the US: three buildings with 12 halls, about 100,000 square meters over three stories and 124 megawatts of power, on land then covered by solar panels. Prime gave no construction date, and its newest Danish plan, announced in March 2026, is a larger campus in Esbjerg.
Frederikshavn had the site ready before it had a builder. "The local plan and everything else has been in place. The only thing we were missing was an investor," Mayor Birgit Hansen told the regional paper Nordjyske in 2023. Under a deal with the local heating company, Sæby Fjernvarme, the plant would send cooling water to the data center and take it back warm to heat homes in the town of about 9,000 people, and Prime said the campus would run on 100 percent renewable power.
