Stockholm's newest data center build is atNorth's SWE02, a 30-megawatt data center in the Akalla business area, between Vandagatan and Raseborgsgatan. atNorth and the grid company Ellevio, which is putting up a new substation next door, both start building in 2026, and each job should take about two years, the city says. The data center will feed its waste heat into the district heating network run by Stockholm Exergi.
The site is part of Stockholm Data Parks, a partnership of the city, Stockholm Exergi, Ellevio and others that places data centers where their heat can warm homes. Data centers selling heat into the network earn about 2 million kronor per megawatt a year, Eurelectric reported in June 2026. Ellevio told the city in March 2026 that power capacity in that part of Stockholm was good. Not every plot is moving: server halls planned on the neighboring Vanda 2 site have been pushed back to 2030 at the earliest.
The county already has several large data centers, including Digital Realty's in Kista, Equinix's Bromma campus and STACK's site in Upplands Väsby, where Vaultica recently opened a site with room for up to 12 megawatts. GlobalConnect is adding 1.2 megawatts to its largest Swedish data center, in southern Stockholm, due in 2026; its heat, piped into the network, should warm about 2,700 apartments. Server halls need backup generators, and those require an environmental permit supervised by the City of Stockholm.
