Most of Vietnam's new data center money is going to Ho Chi Minh City. Viettel broke ground in April 2025 on a 140-megawatt data center on nearly four hectares in Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park in Cu Chi district, the first in Vietnam planned above 100 megawatts. At Saigon Hi-Tech Park in Thu Duc, CMC Technology was chosen to build an eight-story, 30-megawatt, $250 million data center, with construction expected to start in the second quarter of 2026.
More is announced. In February 2026 the UAE technology group G42 and a group of FPT, VinaCapital and Viet Thai unveiled a $2 billion partnership to build data center infrastructure at Saigon Hi-Tech Park, and Singapore-based Evolution, Hathor and Frontier announced Evolution DC VN HCMC, a $508.78 million, 52-megawatt project. NTT's site is smaller: NTT and the local firm QD.Tek set up a joint venture in 2022 to build the 6-megawatt Ho Chi Minh City 1 data center in the hi-tech park.
Power is the limit. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City together have about 73 megawatts of data centers running and 137 more planned by 2030, and a 100-megawatt project faces a wait of about two to three years for new power supply, according to a report carried by VnExpress International in August. Viettel IDC's chief executive, Le Ba Tan, said Vietnam must also solve cooling suited to a tropical climate.
