Blue Ladder Data Center "Project Wolcott", Wolcott, Indiana

Blue Ladder is planning a data center campus, called Project Wolcott, on 322 acres near U.S. Highway 24 at Wolcott, in White County, Indiana, with four data halls of about 327,600 square feet each, a 50,000-square-foot office and a 100,000-square-foot warehouse. The company's own project website says the buildings would sit at least 797 feet from the highway, and it does not give a megawatt figure or say who would operate the site.

On water, the website is specific: closed-loop and dry-cooled, no water for cooling and no wells, with water used only by the people who work there; on power, it says the project will pay for its own electrical infrastructure without saying where the power comes from. It promises about 1,000 construction jobs, hundreds of permanent ones with local hiring given priority, tens of millions of dollars a year in property tax once built out in 2029 or 2030, and noise under 50 decibels.

The White County plan commission backed rezoning about 287 acres at Mid-America Commerce Park west of Wolcott by a 6-4 vote on August 12, 2025, after officials had signed non-disclosure agreements with developers and met behind closed doors three times since mid-June. County council member Joanne Mosher asked why a legitimate business would need to hide its arrival, and residents on the county's water-short western edge wanted the rezoning held until a water table study was finished; commissioner Mike Smolek answered that the rezoning was procedural, not a project approval.

In August 2025 Wolcott residents Bart and Amy Snyder sued the county commissioners and the redevelopment commission to overturn the rezoning of about 184 acres near U.S. 24 and County Road 1100 West, saying the applications skipped the notarized authorization and site plan the county requires. A hearing on summary judgment in the Snyders' lawsuit was set for July 27, 2026; that hearing was scheduled for that date, and no result has been published.

Blue Ladder and county officials held a community open house at the Best Western in Monticello on June 29, 2026, which county economic development president Randy Strasser confirmed.
