Microsoft Busan (PUS05) data center, Gangseo-gu, Busan

Microsoft runs two data centers in the International Industrial Logistics City in Gangseo-gu, Busan, South Korea: its first, completed in 2020, and a larger second one, the Miumsandan data center, which Microsoft and the city unveiled on September 23, 2024. The two together total 85 megawatts of power, and Microsoft is now preparing a third, larger building nearby.

Edaily reported on June 1, 2026 that Microsoft's Korean data center company, 5673 Korea, plans a 125-megawatt building on land it bought from the city's development corporation in the Mieum area, with construction due to start in October 2026 and finish in October 2031. Edaily put the third building's cost at more than 2 trillion won and reported that Microsoft was looking to lease neighboring land to speed up construction, with more than 100 megawatts planned beyond that once power supply is settled, for a cluster of over 400 megawatts at Mieum.

Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon, Gangseo District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon and representatives of KEPCO and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy attended the September 2024 completion ceremony for the second data center, and Microsoft said it worked with the city, the trade ministry, KEPCO and the National Heritage Administration to secure a stable power supply. "Microsoft's investment aligns with our vision of making Busan a global hub for technology and innovation," Park said at the ceremony.

The city is also training workers for the site: Busan's Microsoft Data Center Academy graduated its second cohort of 35 trainees in September 2026, and 14 of them are to start internships at Microsoft's Busan data center in early November. From the first cohort, six trainees became interns at the data center and one was hired full time.
