Reliance Industries is building a data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India that Meta will lease, the two companies announced June 10, 2026. The facility's first phase will have 168 megawatts of power, with an option for Meta to scale up, and Reliance expects to deliver it within two years. It is Meta's first built-to-suit data center in India.

Meta said Jamnagar was chosen because it sits near undersea internet cable landing stations and Reliance's Jio fiber network, and because Reliance's existing operations there already provide land, utilities and power. The data center will run on renewable energy and be cooled with desalinated seawater, and Meta will pay the full cost of the energy and water it uses.

Meta also signed contracts for almost 1 gigawatt of new clean power in India, including 837 megawatts of solar and wind projects with CleanMax and 88 megawatts with Fourth Partner Energy. Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said the Jamnagar facility would help the company scale its AI infrastructure globally while deepening its long-term investment in India's economy.

In January 2025, Bloomberg had reported that Reliance was planning a considerably larger data center at the Jamnagar site, one that could become the world's largest, at a cost of $20 billion to $30 billion, powered by an adjacent green energy complex and using Nvidia chips under a partnership signed in October 2024. That larger plan has not been confirmed since the smaller Meta deal was announced.
