Keel Infrastructure, the company formerly known as Bitfarms, is developing three data centers in Pennsylvania and Washington after shutting down its Bitcoin mining operations this year. Its biggest is Carbon Node East, a proposed 350 megawatt campus around the old Panther Creek plant in Nesquehoning, Carbon County, on land it bought in 2025. The borough approved a special exception permit in February 2026, but county planners voted April 21, 2026 to recommend conditional rejection, citing unresolved sewer, stormwater and zoning questions. By August the company said Panther Creek had zoning and conditional approval.
In Sharon, in Mercer County, Keel is building a 110 megawatt data center on 18 acres of the former Westinghouse Electric plant, replacing the 30 megawatt Bitcoin mine it ran there, after buying the land in October 2025. The city zoning board approved it in April 2026 with conditions, including a 70-decibel noise limit and a ban on drawing river water; by August, transformers had been delivered. One resident told WKBN: "It makes your electricity bill go up... and a lot of humming noise."
At Moses Lake, Washington, Keel shut down its 18 megawatt Bitcoin mine on April 28, 2026 and demolished the mining building. The site's zoning for a data center has been approved, though land development and environmental permits are still in progress; Keel expects Moses Lake to be its first of the three US sites to open, in 2027. Company-wide, Keel says it is pursuing a 2.2 gigawatt development pipeline.
