Nuevo León's running data centers are in Apodaca, near Monterrey's airport. Oracle opened a cloud region in the state in 2023, and Equinix opened its MO2 data center at the Nexxus Aeropuerto industrial park in October 2025, a $250 million project the state says will create 500 jobs, with expansion planned through 2030. Equinix has since announced a second Apodaca data center worth $200 million, and Oracle plans another cloud region in the state but has not said where.
In San Pedro Garza García, two private companies, AI-Green Data Center and Cipre Holding, plan an AI data center worth about $1 billion over ten years, starting with $100 million. It was first presented in 2025 as an Nvidia investment; Nvidia then said it would not put money into a data center in Nuevo León and would only supply technology.
The state says it will add 1.5 gigawatts of power generation in 2026, on top of about 13 gigawatts it uses now, and counts about 10 data center projects in the works. "The bottlenecks are in the last mile, not in generation," investment undersecretary Emmanuel Loo said (translated from Spanish), meaning local lines and substations. Drought is spreading too: by January 15, 2026, 13 of the state's municipalities were affected, up from six at the end of 2025.
