Data centers in Peru: 1 project mapped

Peru's new data centers are going up in Lurín, the industrial district on Lima's southern edge. Cirion Technologies now lists LIM2, a 20-megawatt, 12,000-square-meter data center in the Macrópolis industrial park, among its operating sites; it was due to open in the first quarter of 2025. Chile's GTD opened the first phase of its own Lurín data center in 2024 and plans to spend $13 million in 2026 on a second phase, for a 20-megawatt site with 960 racks.

GTD's first phase cost $15 million and was close to 20% occupied. Its Peru general manager, Sergio Mavila, said the second phase could start sooner if a big client signs and should be running by 2027. Peru's Romero Group, through InfraCorp, is buying 49% of GTD's data center business, a deal still awaiting regulatory approval.

Huawei launched Huawei Cloud in Peru in December 2019 and says Peru is one of five Latin American regions where it runs data centers. It has not said how large its Lima sites are. About 80% of Peru's data center space is in Lima, where Cirion, GTD, Americatel, Optical Networks and Nabiax operate and Equinix runs a small site.
