Data centers in Coryell County, Texas: 1 project mapped
Coryell County has no data center under construction, but two things are worth watching. The first is Fort Hood, which straddles Coryell and Bell counties: in January 2026 the Army solicited bids for commercial data centers on leased land there and at three other posts, and in March conditionally selected developers for two of them, Fort Bliss and Dugway Proving Ground. Fort Hood has had no award yet. Federal contracting documents describe parcels under consideration there, including one within a quarter mile of homes and businesses, and ask bidders to describe outreach to "assess local sentiment and any risks or opposition."
The second is the wave of data center projects elsewhere in Central Texas, which has split county commissioners over how to respond. Commissioner Scott Weddle has pushed a resolution, modeled on one Johnson County passed, urging the Legislature to tighten the reporting and safeguard requirements set by the 2025 state law known as Senate Bill 6. County Judge Roger Miller wants concrete data on local impacts before acting, and has raised concern that new restrictions could limit landowners' right to sell or lease their property. Commissioners have discussed the resolution as a working document without yet adopting it.
