Data centers in Hidalgo County, Texas: 1 project mapped

Hidalgo County's one mapped data center is not a campus on farmland but a floor of an office tower in downtown McAllen. 1547 Critical Systems Realty, a New Jersey company, runs a data center it calls MCTX1 inside the 17-story Chase Tower at 200 S. 10th St., which also houses Chase Bank, Telemundo 40 and Rhodes Enterprises, MySA reported in August 2025. Fiber lines there carry telecommunications traffic between the United States and Mexico, relaying it for 46 carrier networks, and the site draws 1.5 megawatts of power from underground lines backed by generators.

The company was planning a $5.3 million renovation, according to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation records MySA cited, to expand the space to nearly 24,000 square feet and raise power from 1.5 to 5 megawatts within about a year. 1547 calls the Chase Tower "the most interconnected building in South Texas" and markets McAllen's position next to Mexico as an advantage. A statewide order from Gov. Greg Abbott, that state regulators issue no new data center permits until pending grid and water audits are complete, could apply to future work here too, Texas Border Business reported.
