Beacon Partners, which owns the 13-acre site at 3101 Jones Sausage Road in southeast Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, withdrew its request for the city to annex the land on August 15, 2026, canceling that week's planned City Council hearing. About 70 or more residents had signed up to speak about the proposed data center, and hundreds of emails poured into council members' inboxes once the agenda went public, according to council member Mitchell Silver. Beacon Partners later said it is not the developer: "We have no involvement in the proposed development project," Walker Gorham of Beacon Partners said, adding that the firm sold the parcel under contract in 2025.

The withdrawn plan called for a three-story, 100,000-square-foot building on land already zoned for industrial mixed use, valued at about $180 million, roughly two miles from Interstate 40 near Rock Quarry Road and Big Branch Creek. The Parrish Manor neighborhood sits across the road and the Chelmshire Downs subdivision about 1,000 feet away. "The vast majority were opposed," Silver said of the residents who signed up to speak. Who, if anyone, is now planning to develop the site is unclear.
