Rowdy Data Center, Vernon, Texas

Genesis Digital Assets' Rowdy Data Center is operating as a bitcoin mine at the former Oklaunion Power Station near Vernon in Wilbarger County. GDA said in an August 2024 press release that the site opened running at 60 megawatts of power, supported by the Oklaunion Substation. Oklaunion Power Station board chair Tom Walker, who is also the Dallas Cowboys' chief financial officer, said in the release that "this project clearly demonstrates that Bitcoin mining creates entirely new dynamics for the energy industry."

The Oklaunion plant closed in September 2020, and GDA said Rowdy brought back 12 permanent jobs and about 150 construction jobs. In February 2025 GDA added a 10 megawatt container at Vernon, bringing the site to 70 megawatts, as part of a 50 megawatt expansion that also grew its Pyote site. AiOnX bought a 77 percent stake in GDA for $500 million in June 2026 and plans to convert GDA's 15 bitcoin-mining centers to AI and high-performance computing, though its announcement gave no date for a change at Rowdy.
