Data centers in Solano County, California: 2 projects mapped

Developers are marketing a 150-megawatt data center on a 300-acre industrial campus in northeast Fairfield, between Vanden Road and North Gate Road near the edge of Vacaville. Investor slides from Jones Lang LaSalle and NorthPoint Development call it North Bay Solutions and say a data center is allowed "by right." The land belongs to Canon Partners, whose industrial park plan the Fairfield Planning Commission approved in 2023. No building application has been filed yet; a formal one would need a public hearing.

City spokesperson Bill Way said Canon is studying the cost of bringing in PG&E power. County voters decide Measure E on November 3, 2026. It would tax data centers $5 per square foot of building, about $2 million a year for one big enough for 77 megawatts, but only in unincorporated areas, so it would not reach the Fairfield site. "I want to make sure it is as expensive as possible for them to do that," said board chair Mitch Mashburn as supervisors voted 4-0 on July 28 to put it on the ballot.

Residents also turned out against a pitch for an emergency shelter with a data center at the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo; the fair association pulled the item from its July 15 agenda, saying approval was outside its authority. Rio Vista has warned that Suisun City's proposed annexation of California Forever land would allow data centers by right in some districts.
