Data centers in Houston County, Georgia: 1 project mapped

Warner Robins has put data centers on hold. On July 20, 2026, the city council approved a six-month moratorium on data center applications, which runs through January 20, 2027, according to WGXA and 41NBC. Mayor LaRhonda Patrick said the city will use the pause to study effects on water, electricity, gas, zoning, property values and residential rates, and to hold listening sessions with residents. "We can't allow someone to come in and suck up all our water resources, and be left with water with low pressure, for example," Patrick told 41NBC. "That's what we're hearing in other communities." She told WGXA the city would consult experts on "what's really happening when it comes to the water table, when it comes to the sewer, when it comes to the electric grid."

The one data center project tracked in the county is a proposal to lease federal land at Robins Air Force Base, next to Warner Robins. On October 15, 2025, the Department of the Air Force asked private companies for proposals to lease underused land for AI data centers at five bases, including three sites of between 30 and 135 acres at Robins, according to DatacenterDynamics and Air & Space Forces Magazine. Under President Trump's Executive Order 14318, each project had to involve at least $500 million in capital spending and more than 100 megawatts of power. Leases could run up to 50 years, and offers were due November 14, 2025. The notice said lessees must obtain and pay for "any and all utilities, including but not limited to power and water" at their own cost, and that the service would favor proposals that keep utilities for the base and the surrounding community accessible and affordable. The Air Force was scheduled to select applicants in January 2026; no result has been published.
