Data centers in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana: 1 project mapped

West Feliciana Parish's data center is Hut 8's River Bend campus, under construction off La. 964 near St. Francisville, next to Entergy's River Bend nuclear plant. The parish approved the rezoning in January 2025 for what was then a $2.5 billion project, and Hut 8 bought the 611-acre tract that February. The first phase, two 450,000-square-foot buildings, will need 300 megawatts of power, enough for about 54,000 homes a year, GovTech reported, and Hut 8 aims to be fully operational by the third quarter of 2027.

Parish President Kenny Havard negotiated with Hut 8 directly, skipping the state's economic development office and any non-disclosure agreements. Hut 8 donated its site to a new parish Industrial Development Board, which leases it back for rent equal to the property tax its GPUs would otherwise owe, worth up to $90 million a year from mid-2027, split among the parish, the sheriff and the schools. "It's going to be our next oil boom," Havard said. Hut 8 is also paying $16 million for a new water well and fire hydrants for the parish.

Residents near the site say they can already hear construction, and Hut 8 said in July 2026 a noise study would conclude within weeks; no result has been published. The company will truck in at least 2 million gallons of water for a closed cooling loop but won't say how much the site needs overall. Entergy Louisiana says it has enough power for the plant and residents, though Logan Burke of the Alliance for Affordable Energy told WBRZ "there hasn't been much transparency about this project." Havard says future phases could triple the site and need 1,000 megawatts or more.
