Aligned Data Centers runs its Salt Lake City campus at 3333 West 9000 South in West Jordan, Salt Lake County, Utah, a 55-acre site that the company says holds its SLC-01, SLC-02 and SLC-03 data centers. Aligned markets the West Jordan data center campus as designed to Tier III standards with 24-hour access and a 100% uptime service agreement.

Water is the local question. Records gathered by The Salt Lake Tribune show Aligned used 47.4 million gallons of water in West Jordan between October 2024 and September 2025, and 80 million gallons at its West Valley site. By comparison, the National Security Agency's data center in Bluffdale used more than 126 million gallons, and the nearby Novva campus in West Jordan, which fills a recirculating cooling system once, used 3 million gallons, two-thirds of it on landscaping.

Power is the other. Rocky Mountain Power, the state's main utility, does not have the capacity to meet the surge in demand, so data center developers have turned to generating their own electricity, mostly from natural gas. Data centers in Salt Lake County, including Aligned's, have received approval in the last five years to install diesel backup generators, and environmental advocates warn new generators could push the region back out of compliance with air quality standards. In West Jordan itself, the expanding Novva campus won state approval in December 2024 to build a 200 megawatt natural gas plant.

Aligned changed hands in July 2026, when a consortium of the AI Infrastructure Partnership, BlackRock's Global Infrastructure Partners and Abu Dhabi-based MGX completed a $40 billion purchase of the company from Macquarie Asset Management, the largest deal ever in data centers. The Dallas-based company has 51 campuses across North and South America and more than 6.4GW of operational and planned capacity, and CEO Andrew Schaap and his team stay on.
