AVAIO Taurus Data Center Hub, Brandon, Mississippi

AVAIO Digital Partners is building the Taurus Data Center Hub, a $6 billion, 116-megawatt data center campus on 329 acres in Brandon, Rankin County, Mississippi, east of Jackson. AVAIO announced the project on August 19, 2025, broke ground in September 2025 with Yates Construction building it and Entergy Mississippi supplying power, and its project page now targets first occupancy in August 2027.

The Mississippi Development Authority cleared the project for the state's Data Center Enterprises tax exemption, and AVAIO is also seeking a fee in lieu of property tax that needs sign-off from the county, the city and the development authority. Rankin First, the county's economic development group, estimates about $23 million a year in new local tax revenue once the campus is on the rolls, most of it for the school district; AVAIO promises at least 60 direct jobs, water-efficient cooling, rainwater recapture and rooftop solar.

Nathan Rester, who lives a few miles from the site with his wife, Larkyn Collier, and their toddler, started a Change.org petition asking county leaders to guarantee no rise in utility bills or pollution; it had nearly 1,000 signatures by late October 2025. "People genuinely just want answers and transparency here. And they want safeguards in place," Rester said. "I'm even more concerned about the secrecy surrounding this process," resident Bailey Henry said. "If this is such a great development for Mississippi, then why have Mississippians been kept in the dark on this?"

Rankin First's project page reports an independent noise study found ambient levels near the closest neighborhood of 42 to 56 decibels, expects the campus to stay within city noise limits, and says AVAIO has set up a Community Advisory Group. Brandon Mayor Butch Lee called the investment a "major step forward for Brandon," and Gov. Tate Reeves' office said the state reviews data center projects "on a case-by-case basis to ensure Mississippi has the resources needed to sustain them."
