Amazon Web Services has filed for environmental clearance to build a data center campus that trade coverage describes as near Taloja in Navi Mumbai, though the land Amazon bought from Lodha actually sits in the Palava township area of Ambernath, in Thane district. Amazon Data Services India's April 2026 filing describes six buildings on about 49 acres: four seven-story data center blocks and two buildings for electrical and water equipment, with 473 megawatts of power.

The investment is reported at nearly 4,000 crore rupees, about 430 million dollars, in Hindustan Times reporting cited by The Tech Capital and StorageNewsletter. Amazon bought the land in two parcels from Macrotech Developers, the listed Lodha company: 38.18 acres registered on November 12, 2024 for more than 450 crore rupees, and 10.6 acres registered on May 26, 2026 for 125.13 crore rupees, according to SiliconIndia and Lodha's own account of the project.

Lodha is developing the surrounding land as what it calls a Green Digital Data Centre Park, backed by a 30,000 crore rupee agreement with the Maharashtra government, and names Amazon Web Services and STT Global Data Centres as buyers in the park.

No date has been given for construction to start at the Amazon site, and the environmental clearance was still pending as of the most recent reporting.
