Google's Mumbai data center is a cloud region called asia-south1, a linked cluster of data centers, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It opened on November 1, 2017 as Google's first cloud region in India, built from three data centers whose exact addresses Google has not made public.

Google said hosting in Mumbai would cut latency by 20 to 90 percent for users in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Mumbai compared with its Singapore region, and it offered private network connections at GPX Mumbai and Tata's Mumbai data center. A second Indian cloud region followed in Delhi in 2021, and in April 2026 Google broke ground on a much larger AI hub near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

Around Mumbai, the data center boom has reached residents: in Thane's Balkum area, people have protested an Amazon Web Services data center over noise, heat and water use. In September 2026 the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board said it was drafting the state's first data center policy with IIT Bombay. "Environmental problems being caused due to upcoming data centres in the state is a matter of concern but while addressing it, we want to also address the issue wherein we want new investment to come in Maharashtra," board chairman Siddhesh Kadam said.

The policy, which the board says will set buffer zones around homes and require recycled or treated wastewater for cooling, is expected to be finalized within a few months and would govern where Mumbai's next data centers can go.
