Google's data center in Delhi, India, is the company's Google Cloud data center region for India's National Capital Region; it opened on July 15, 2021, as Google's second cloud region in the country after Mumbai. The project is operating and was announced in 2020.
Google Cloud chief executive Thomas Kurian said at the launch that the company was expanding its local infrastructure in response to customer demand, and that a second data center in India gave customers more choice to store their data inside the country.
Each of the two Indian regions has three availability zones, meaning three physically separate locations each with its own power, so a customer's service can keep running if one zone fails. Google said the two regions also sit in different seismic zones so customers can use one to back up the other. HDFC Bank, the online brokerage Groww and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories were among the customers Google quoted welcoming the region.
