CyrusOne's operating SAT5 and SAT6 data centers sit at 14719 Omicron Drive, off State Highway 151 west of downtown San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, covering 175,000 square feet and currently providing 33 megawatts of power, the company says. CyrusOne also runs the 9-megawatt SAT1 and a 36-megawatt campus on Westover Hills Boulevard, and in July 2026 filed for a sixth area data center, a $500 million, 460,000-square-foot building called SAT14A near Castroville, planned for December 2026 to June 2027.

CyrusOne says the site connects to the San Antonio Metro IX and its own national network, with efficient chillers using minimal water, only for humidification and maintenance.

Gov. Greg Abbott ordered the Public Utility Commission of Texas and grid operator ERCOT on August 3, 2026, to audit data centers seeking to connect to the grid, saying any that fail should be denied. On September 21 he told the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to issue no permits for data center projects until that audit and a state water review are complete.

San Antonio is weighing its own rules: at a City Council session in March 2026, Councilman Ric Galvan asked for data centers to be classed as general industrial, and the city's development services director said an update could require them to sit at least 1,000 feet from homes and parks. "We see the data centers in San Antonio as both a risk and an opportunity," said Donovan Burton of the San Antonio Water System, which says 75% of data center water use in 2025 was recycled water. Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones and several council members pushed for new data center rules before the city's development code is next updated in 2027.
