Dapsi International ApS, Google's Danish subsidiary, has applied to build a four building data center campus, Data Center Kassø, on farmland near Rødekro in Aabenraa Municipality, Denmark. Google has owned the site since 2017 without building on it, and the municipality issued its scoping statement for a required environmental impact assessment on April 27, 2026. The next steps are the company's environmental report, a draft permit and a further public hearing.

The plan covers about 105 hectares next to the Kassø high voltage transformer station, in an area zoned for industry and data centers. The four large buildings would mainly hold server halls, with a central office, cooling plant, a switching station and up to 185 emergency generators, built in stages over about six years. About 400 people are expected to work at the site once it is running, with up to 220 heavy vehicles a day at the busiest point of construction.

Google bought the 131 hectare site in November 2017, saying it had no current plans to use it but wanted room to expand in Europe. Then mayor Thomas Andresen said the purchase put Aabenraa on the world map. Apple dropped plans for a data center next door in 2019, and SAP bought nearby plots at Kassø and Padborg in 2020 without building.

At a public hearing on the assessment's scope, held from February 27 to March 27, 2026, Kassø residents said year round homes west of the site had been left out of consideration and would be heavily affected, especially by traffic. They asked the assessment to treat the wider Kassø industrial park as one combined impact, covering noise, air pollution, dust, vibration and light, but the municipality said only concrete, planned projects can be included in that combined review. Energinet, the grid operator, asked that an accident at the data center must not affect the nearby substation.
