Google's Fredericia data center sits at Taulov, in Fredericia Municipality, Denmark, and Google opened it in November 2020 after more than two years of construction and a cost of 4.5 billion Danish kroner. Google bought the 73.2-hectare plot in June 2017 and announced the build in November 2018, saying it expected 150 to 200 staff when it opened.

Google paired the opening with five new solar parks around Denmark, which it said more than offset the data center's power use. "Data centers are frontrunners when it comes to innovation - this is where we develop the most energy-efficient solutions and new, green technology", said Malou Aamund, then Google's Danish director. A Copenhagen Economics report for the opening credited the project with 2,600 jobs from 2018 to 2020 on top of construction staff, with about 150 people to be employed at the site.

The question now is a second phase. Fredericia Municipality has granted an environmental approval and a section 25 permit for an expansion with three new data center halls, internal roads, parking and more utility buildings, with no objections from residents or authorities during the hearing period, Electronic Supply reported in May 2026, citing Fredericia Dagblad. At that point Google said no final decision had been taken, and its Nordic data center policy lead, Niels Martin Andersen, called the site work under way a natural part of preparing the area. On June 30, 2026 Fredericia Dagblad reported that Google would double the data center in Prinsessens Kvarter, with up to 1,200 workers building the expansion, 100 more permanent jobs, and the new servers assured power from the grid. Water is the local issue: the expansion would raise demand for cooling water, and the municipality is working to set up a company to produce technical water as an alternative to drinking water, with Google asking for its timetable.

The municipality is also discussing a greenhouse project that would run on the data center's waste heat, possibly at Tuevej, according to Fredericia Dagblad's reporting. The next decisions sit with Fredericia Municipality, on the technical water company and the heat project, and with Google, on the pace of construction.
