Google's Osaka data center capacity is its Google Cloud region asia-northeast2 in Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, which Google opened in May 2019 as its second cloud region in Japan after Tokyo. Google does not own the Osaka buildings: DCD reported that it colocates the region in Equinix's OS1 and NTT's Telepark Dojima Building 2.

"Two cloud regions in-country provide improved business continuity planning with distributed, secure infrastructure needed to meet IT and business requirements for disaster recovery," Google Cloud chief executive Thomas Kurian wrote at the launch. Asahi Group Holdings was among the customers Google quoted welcoming the region. Google's first owned data center in Japan opened later, in Inzai, Chiba Prefecture, in 2023.

Other companies are now building AI capacity near the city. In January 2026 KDDI opened its Osaka Sakai Data Center, an AI data center built in about six months on the former Sharp Sakai plant site, reusing the plant's high-capacity power and cooling systems. KDDI said the site would provide GPUs and on-premises services for Google's Gemini AI model to pharmaceutical, manufacturing and other customers, and that it runs on 100% renewable energy.

Google says the Osaka region's three zones sit within one or two physical data centers and that it is in the process of expanding to at least three.
