Google Project Clydesdale data center, Owasso, Oklahoma

On August 19, 2026, Google confirmed that it is the end user of Project Clydesdale, a 506 acre data center campus that Beale Infrastructure is building in unincorporated Tulsa County, Oklahoma, just west of Owasso and next to the Cherokee Industrial Park. Beale broke ground in October 2025, and until that day the end user had not been publicly identified.

Cheyenne Morgan, coalition coordinator for Stop Data Colonialism, who became involved during the rezoning more than a year earlier, said: "Despite community pushback, Project Clydesdale got pushed forward anyways, without us knowing who the end user was for that proposed project." She added: "I don't believe that there was true community consent or engagement around this project." County Commissioner Stan Sallee called it "a tremendous boost to northeast Oklahoma" and said of the site: "It is next to an industrial park. The zoning matches, it works. It has the water needs for this company. It has the utility it needs as well." Trystine Payfer, Google's public affairs manager for Oklahoma, said: "This project is far more than an infrastructure investment; it is a long-term commitment to Tulsa County's future."

Google said it had invested more than $15 billion in Oklahoma since 2011 and that its 2025 spending supported $2.6 billion of state economic activity. The project includes a new on-site substation funded by Beale, about 1.5 miles of new water lines and upgrades for Washington County Rural Water District No. 3, and a training partnership with the electrical training ALLIANCE aiming at more than 160 apprentices in Oklahoma by 2030. Stacy Smith of the Tulsa Regional Chamber argued the benefit was wider than the direct jobs: "This isn't just a 100, 200 direct jobs. This is an ecosystem of activity and additional jobs that's going to follow."

The announcement gave no power or cost figure for the campus; Morgan said residents have raised concerns about water, power and noise, and construction is ongoing.
