Microsoft's Woodlands data center at 1 Woodlands Industrial Park E9 in Singapore is a nine-story building with offices, utility support areas and its own substation, built as Microsoft's SG2 data center project. Its air-conditioning contractor dates its part of the work from December 2012 to April 2014. It is one of three data centers Microsoft says it operates in Singapore, which together employed about 120 people as of 2025.

Microsoft opened its Singapore Azure cloud region in 2010 with three availability zones. Microsoft says water-cooled chillers at its Singapore facilities use reused water all year, and that its practices include noise and light reduction. In 2024 it signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with EDP Renewables for power from the 200MWp SolarNova 8 rooftop solar project.

Microsoft is growing in Singapore. In 2023 it was one of four operators given a share of 80MW of new data center capacity as Singapore began easing its moratorium on new data centers, and in April 2026 it said it is on track to invest $5.5 billion in Singaporean cloud and AI infrastructure by 2029. "Our ongoing investment in cloud and AI infrastructure reflects Microsoft's long-term confidence in Singapore as a global digital leader," said Microsoft president Brad Smith.

Singapore had a moratorium on new data centers from 2019, and in December 2025 the government opened a second call for at least 200MW of capacity, requiring new facilities to be at least 50 percent powered by green energy.

New data center capacity in Singapore is allocated by the Economic Development Board and the Infocomm Media Development Authority.
