Zydeco Development withdrew its plan for a 70 megawatt data center at 450 Ed Schmidt Boulevard in Hutto, Williamson County, Texas, on April 17, 2026. It had sought to change the site from multifamily residential to heavy industrial zoning, and the city called off the April 20 planning and zoning meeting after the withdrawal.

Residents organized a grassroots group called Stop The Hutto Data Center and gathered signatures from nearby property owners to trigger a state law requiring a supermajority City Council vote for the rezoning. The group said it had already secured a significant share of the signatures needed before Zydeco withdrew. "This is what happens when neighbors work together and get organized," said co-organizer Katie Martin.

City staff had recommended against the zoning change because it conflicted with Hutto's growth plan, and it would have required amending both the future land use map and the SOAR 2040 comprehensive plan. Residents who objected to industrial zoning near their homes said they would stay involved in any future proposal for the land.
