Teraco's Bredell Campus in Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg, South Africa, holds the company's JB2 and JB4 data centers, with 64 megawatts of critical power load. In August 2025 Teraco, a Digital Realty company, completed the second phase of JB4, which it calls the largest standalone data center built in Africa; the 30 megawatt addition took JB4 to 50 megawatts of critical IT power load.

Teraco broke ground on JB4 in November 2020 and completed its first phase in 2022, with 30,000 square meters of building, 8,000 square meters of data hall space and 19 megawatts of critical power load; work on the second phase started in July 2023. JB4 now has 80,000 square meters of building, 80 megawatts of utility power supply and 14 data halls totaling 17,000 square meters, according to the company.

Each of the six new halls supports 5 megawatts of critical IT load, which Teraco says is a first in Africa, and the halls can run liquid-to-liquid cooling for direct-to-chip AI workloads. Teraco says JB4 uses a closed-loop chilled water system with free air cooling and zero water during ongoing cooling, "an important feature on a continent facing water scarcity and supply reliability." "South Africa has become the technology and data centre hub for sub-Saharan Africa, acting as a springboard for cloud, AI and content provision into Africa," said Teraco chief executive Jan Hnizdo.

The campus sits in Ekurhuleni's Aerotropolis, alongside the R21 business corridor, with fiber links to Teraco's Isando Campus 20 kilometers away. Teraco's South African platform totals 189 megawatts of critical power load, including 70 megawatts at Isando, 53 megawatts in Cape Town and 2 megawatts in Durban. Digital Realty acquired a majority stake in Teraco in January 2022, in a deal valuing the company at about $3.5 billion.
