Vantage Data Centers is building JNB2, its second Johannesburg data center campus, in Isando, in the City of Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, South Africa, near OR Tambo International Airport. The first building is a 20 megawatt, two-story data center of 355,000 square feet, built partly by reusing part of an existing warehouse, and it sits about 17 kilometers from Vantage's 120 megawatt JNB1 campus in Midrand.
Vantage announced construction in December 2022 and said the building would open in mid-2024. That date has passed, and as of September 2026 Vantage's own website still describes JNB2 in the future tense, with no report yet that it has opened. Power comes from the Municipality of Ekurhuleni through an on-site substation, and the campus is cooled by a closed-loop water system designed to use outside air to cut water use, which Vantage says keeps water use near zero.
