Data centers in Taiwan: 4 projects mapped
Taiwan's biggest data centers are Google's campus in Changhua County, open since 2013 and estimated at about 250 megawatts of power, and a growing cluster in Guishan, Taoyuan. Microsoft opened a 40-megawatt data center in Guishan in 2024 and is building a 50-megawatt site in Luzhu. On Baoshi Street in Guishan, beside the Hongbao apartment community, Vantage has finished a 16-megawatt building, and the 80-megawatt Westwood data center backed by Singapore's Keppel and DDSP is under construction next door.
Taipower is building a new high-voltage line on the Guishan hillside to supply them. "This project involves two companies, and from what I've heard both are foreign firms," said Chen Wen-Ching, chief of Xinling Village. The buildings have not drawn large protests; the argument in Taiwan is over power supply in the north, where substations are already stretched.

Since September 2023, Taipower has refused new applications from data centers above 5 megawatts north of Taoyuan. Chairman Tseng Wen-sheng said a 5-megawatt data center draws as much as the Shin Kong Life Tower. In July 2026 he said Taipower would back local-government plans for AI data center zones near power plants in the north.
Outside Taoyuan, Foxconn has opened a 27-megawatt first phase in Kaohsiung that could grow to 100, Chunghwa Telecom runs a 40-megawatt data center in Banqiao, and Chief Telecom is building two 20-megawatt sites, in Neihu and the Central Taiwan Science Park.
