Data centers in Hendricks County, Indiana: 1 project mapped
Hendricks County has two data center projects. In Pittsboro, Vantage Data Centers won approval in March 2025 to rezone 626 acres of farmland north of Interstate 74 and west of County Road 500 East, where it plans a campus of three buildings on about 285 acres using 256, 96 and 48 megawatts of power. In Plainfield, RadiusDC's plan for two 100,835-square-foot buildings on 31 acres at Smith Road and AllPoints Parkway, a 24-megawatt campus, was approved by the Plan Commission in January 2026.
Pittsboro's Town Council approved the rezoning 5-0 without taking public comment, after the plan commission recommended it 4-1 before an overflow crowd. "It's gonna be a complete nuisance," said Donald Brophy, who lives across the street. "We've got one stoplight." Council President Jarod Baker said Steel Dynamics, which has a mill in Pittsboro, had raised "a rightful concern" about whether the local grid could serve both. Vantage plans to rent space to several tenants, and town officials say it will use a low-water cooling method.

In April 2025 Brophy and other neighbors sued the town and Vantage in Hendricks County, saying the town gave improper notice of the annexation and rezoning and required no traffic, environmental or water studies. They asked the court to void both. No ruling in the case has been published.
The Plainfield site was already zoned industrial, so it did not need a Town Council vote. The town says the buildings will use about 700 gallons of water a day, sit more than a quarter mile from the nearest home, and that Duke Energy has confirmed it can supply the power.
