Data centers in Nevada: 24 projects mapped
Nevada had about 70 data centers planned, under construction or operating across Clark, Washoe, Elko, Lyon and Storey counties as of May 2026, according to the Legislative Counsel Bureau. Storey County has the largest concentration. State lawmakers plan to consider a bill in 2027 that would pause new data centers and end their tax breaks, while several local governments have already acted.
Reno has stopped accepting new data center applications until August 31, 2027, or until it adopts new rules; previously approved projects can proceed. Nye County adopted an August prohibition affecting the proposed 900-acre Manse Technology Campus near Pahrump, after imposing a separate countywide application pause in June. In Lyon County, commissioners voted 3-1 to rezone about 505 acres near Yerington for Copia Power's proposed 1,000-megawatt Monarch Data Center; the project still needs other permits.

Power supply is another live issue. NV Energy says data center developers have asked about 22 gigawatts of power, an inquiry figure rather than capacity already committed. On September 17, state regulators approved two gas plants totaling more than 360 megawatts for Tract's Fleet Data Centers at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, where they are intended to supply power until NV Energy connects the sites. Nearly three hours of public comment opposed the plants.
Near Boulder City, an Interior Department administrative judge paused a proposed 167-megawatt data center on Bureau of Land Management land while an appeal proceeds. The agency has since asked the Interior appeals board to set aside its own approval and review the application again; Boulder City opposes that request. The city's response is due October 5.
