Amazon Web Services is behind two data center plans around Trenton. Prologis is building Project Mila, four buildings on 141 acres of Trenton's industrial park south of Kennel Road, with Amazon as the end user. Amazon also wants 18 buildings on about 600 acres along Wayne Madison and Hawkins roads in Madison and St. Clair townships, just south of the city. On November 3, 2026, Trenton voters decide whether to ban data centers that need more than 25 megawatts of power.

Both townships refused to let Trenton annex the 600 acres, and on September 14 the city withdrew its request, saying it may try again after the election. Madison Township's zoning is run by the county, whose six-month pause on data centers in six townships, adopted June 16, runs until December. "We have to understand what we're committing our residents to," Commissioner Don Dixon said. St. Clair adopted its own 12-month pause in May.

Trenton's Planning Commission approved the Project Mila site plan on March 30, 2026, in a meeting of about 10 minutes, because the land was already zoned industrial. "We're going to keep on fighting," said Barry Blankenship, whose residents' group sued to get the ban on the ballot; the Ohio Supreme Court ordered the city to hold the vote. Prologis says it will pay for power upgrades and that the city will collect about $120,000 a year in water, sewer and stormwater fees.

In Hamilton, Logistix Property Group's proposed data center at 1380 University Boulevard has been on hold since January 2026, when the city said it would take at least 24 months to deliver even 45 of the 240 megawatts requested. "We are not willing to sacrifice our children for economic growth," resident Jay Kidd told the council.
