Prologis data centers: 4 sites mapped

Prologis, the California-based industrial real estate giant best known for warehouses, has moved into data centers, and its record is mixed. Its one campus under construction is Project Mila in Trenton, Butler County, Ohio, being built for Amazon Web Services on 141 acres Prologis bought from the city for $7.7 million: a 250-megawatt campus totaling 893,034 square feet. The Trenton Planning Commission approved the site plan unanimously in March 2026, and the city council later gave Prologis a Community Reinvestment Area agreement with a 75 percent property tax exemption on each building for 15 years. Residents organized against it, and after the Ohio Supreme Court ordered the council to certify their petition, Trenton voters will decide on November 3, 2026 whether to ban new data centers needing more than 25 megawatts. The ban would not affect the Prologis campus, which is already under way.

In Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana, the Common Council voted 4 to 2, with one abstention, in April 2026 to annex 429 acres and approve an economic development agreement for a Prologis campus of up to 11 buildings east of the State Road 44 and Interstate 74 interchange. Prologis gets a 30-year, 100 percent personal property tax abatement and a 10-year, 50 percent abatement on real property, and in return must spend at least $2 billion and create 25 jobs for each data center building. A Shelby Superior Court judge later ruled for the city in a lawsuit over the annexation and rezoning. The fight turned bitter in June, when a video showed Mayor Scott Furgeson saying he saw "No Data Centers" signs only at run-down houses; he later apologized, saying, "I take full responsibility for what I said."

Elsewhere Prologis has been turned away. In Kosciusko County, Indiana, the county commissioners voted 3 to 0 in April 2025 to uphold their plan commission's recommendation to deny rezoning more than 500 acres of farmland near Leesburg for a Prologis data center. "We're not against a data center. We're against a data center in this location," said Jack Birch, the attorney for the objectors. In Washington Township, Macomb County, Michigan, Prologis withdrew its application to rezone 312 acres on 32 Mile Road in a letter dated May 19, 2026, saying it would wait until the township adopts rules for data centers.

Prologis is also lined up to buy Project Sail, the 900-megawatt campus near Newnan in Coweta County, Georgia, from its developer Atlas Development; DCD reported in April 2026, when the county approved the rezoning, that Prologis had not yet closed on the purchase.
