Comcast runs data centers on its Boot Road campus in West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania, a three-building site that also houses engineering departments and back-office operations, the company says. The contractor Hatzel & Buehler, which supports power and cooling work there, says its projects on campus have included backup battery upgrades, elevated flooring built to run cables underneath, switchboards, generators and transformers.

In 2024 Comcast installed its own SmartKit AI energy management system across the campus to control heating and cooling and flag unusual energy use. The system turned up higher-than-expected energy use on weekends, and the facilities team adjusted heating and cooling schedules for unoccupied hours, according to Comcast. "Based on what we were able to accomplish in energy reduction during peak demand events, we're looking to scale the energy reduction across the campus on a regular basis for additional cost savings and efficiency," said Billy Osborne, Comcast's director of facilities and workplace.
