Comcast, the US cable company, runs small data centers for its own network rather than building large campuses for tenants. Its newest approved site is a former TD Bank branch at 92 West Main Street in Clinton, New Jersey, which the town's land use board approved for conversion into a data center. Comcast Cable will use the 2,170-square-foot building to house servers, install two generators, remove the drive-through, and will not staff it constantly.
In Moorestown, New Jersey, Comcast put its 650 Centerton Road office and data center, built in 2001 on 5.1 acres, up for sale to investors in a sale-leaseback deal; the building is or was the site of the Comcast Cybersecurity Operations Center. In Pennsylvania, its three-building Boot Road campus in West Chester houses data centers and back-office operations, where Comcast has installed energy monitoring toward a goal to double network energy efficiency by 2030.
Comcast has also filed plans with Texas regulators for a $7.5 million, 5,200-square-foot data center in Willis, Montgomery County, Texas.
