Google's data center campus in northwest Omaha, in Douglas County, Nebraska, sits north of 114th and State Street along the west side of Blair High Road. Google announced the $750 million project in April 2022, and it was still building out the 378-acre site as of January 2025. City planning documents showed 1.4 million square feet of buildings no taller than four stories, and planners waived the required parking down from 2,865 stalls to 642.

Water is the local worry: Google's three Nebraska data centers, in Omaha, Papillion and Lincoln, used about 732 million gallons of water in 2025, up from 134.7 million in 2023 and 46.6 million in 2022, more than Omaha Metropolitan Utilities District customers use in an average week combined. That came as wide swaths of the state were in extreme drought, and Google says it is supporting water resilience in Nebraska through three projects in the Platte River basin, most aimed at making farm irrigation more efficient.

At Omaha Public Works' annual World O Water event in September 2026, Jordan Anderson of Sierra Club Nebraska said: "We are concerned about what the potential long-term consequences of data center water use is, and the lack of oversight that has been currently put into place."

Nebraska has also stopped offering data centers new tax breaks: on July 21, 2026 Governor Jim Pillen signed an executive order ending access to incentives under the ImagiNE Act for new data center applications and setting up a state task force on water and energy impacts. State Senator Mike Jacobson, who backed the order, said he plans to introduce legislation next session so that if a data center locates in Nebraska, "our taxpayers and communities should receive the full benefit of that investment."
