Microsoft Køge (CPH03) data center, Koge, Region Zealand

Microsoft's Koge data center, southwest of Copenhagen in Koge Municipality, Region Zealand, Denmark, is one of three campuses in the company's new Denmark East cloud region, which Microsoft has opened for customers. A second construction phase at the Koge site began on March 9, 2026, and is due to finish in April 2028.

Microsoft first said in December 2020 that it would build data centers in Denmark; Koge was its second site after Roskilde, with the contractor Exyte preparing the ground and starting excavation for phase one. Details about the size and capacity of the Koge data center have not been made public, DCD reported.

Microsoft says its Danish data centers use no water for cooling, run backup generators on renewable diesel where available, and are designed for a power usage effectiveness of 1.16. Long-term power purchase agreements in Denmark provide 130 megawatts of renewable energy, including the 27 megawatt Svinningegarden Solar Park in Holbaek Municipality, and waste heat will go first to district heating in Hoje-Taastrup, enough for about 6,000 homes, "with future expansion planned in Koge," Microsoft says.

Koge Mayor Ken Kristensen said the opening showed Koge was "an attractive location for large, future-proof projects," and that he was pleased the data center would over time send surplus heat to the local district heating network. For the second phase, Microsoft directs neighbors with questions about the construction to its main contractor, SISK, and says it is following guidance from Koge Municipality.
