DartPoints data centers: 4 sites mapped

DartPoints is a small edge colocation company that runs regional data centers in mid-sized US markets rather than hyperscale campuses. It began planning a network of micro data centers in 2012, and after private equity firm Astra Capital took a majority stake, it bought Metro Data Centers in Dublin, Ohio, outside Columbus, in October 2020, then Immedion in March 2021. The Dublin site has 22,000 square feet of technical space and sits about 20 miles from the cloud campuses of Facebook, Google and Amazon Web Services in New Albany, Data Center Frontier reported.

In Louisiana, DartPoints acquired Venyu and its three data centers, including an 87,000 square foot Tier III building in Shreveport that was once a Selber Brothers department store, bringing its portfolio to 11 data centers in 10 markets with 20MW of capacity, DCD reported. "Serving Edge markets is where our passion and expertise lie," chief executive Scott Willis said. Its Asheville, North Carolina site, AVL01, is in the Biltmore Park Technology Center, with 23,000 square feet of white space and 1.5 MW of utility power, according to the company.

In Asheville, the city council has imposed a one-year moratorium on new data center construction, joining about 30 North Carolina localities that have paused them while they write permanent rules; the city's land-use rules did not even define a data center. "I think we need to take a pause and make sure we put in measures that address all the concerns that we have as a community," Mayor Esther Manheimer said. In Caddo Parish, around Shreveport, the parish commission voted 6-4 on Aug. 31, 2026 against asking its planning commission to consider pausing data center construction, as Amazon Web Services plans a campus there.
