Brazos County's data center is a four-year-late building on Texas A&M's RELLIS Campus. The county approved a tax abatement with RELLIS Campus Data and Research Center LLC in April 2022 for a project on a 25-acre tract of A&M System land. Construction was meant to finish in fall 2022, but Winter Storm Uri set it back, ground was broken only in 2024, and in November 2025 the developer filed for Chapter 11 after a financial partner reportedly withdrew. ThisWay Global, Inc. took the nearly finished building out of bankruptcy.
Bryan's council approved a replacement abatement unanimously on June 26, 2026, giving the new owner a September deadline to begin construction; no report has said whether construction started by that deadline. The new terms are smaller: the agreement puts the project's value at about $298 million and requires at least five full-time jobs with a $518,000 payroll, against the $700 million and at least 100 jobs the city was told of in April 2025. On August 18, 2026, county commissioners voted 4-0 to transfer their own agreement, which taxes the project at 50% for 10 years and in full for 30 more. "Should [ThisWay Global] fail, the county is not left really on the hook for any of this," said Commissioner Chuck Konderla.
College Station said no to a bigger one. On September 11, 2025, its council voted unanimously, shortly before midnight, against selling about 200 acres in the Midtown Business Park to Priority Power Management for $30 million; more than 75 people had registered to speak and a petition had 5,047 signatures. Site plans called the scheme Project Aggie and sketched a possible 600-megawatt campus. "It's been a 'no' for 11 months, and I'm still a hard no today," said Councilmember Bob Yancy.
