Bullock Capital and Colossus Data Center Advisors withdrew their plan for a data center at 191st Street and Renner Road in Spring Hill, Johnson County, Kansas, after the city said on March 6, 2026 that no zoning request remained on file for the property. The companies had asked to rezone about 316 acres there from rural residential to general industrial, and a public hearing on the request had been moved to a special meeting set for March 25. "We have decided to withdraw our application and are no longer pursuing the opportunity near 191st and Renner," the companies said in a statement.

Colossus, a site selection firm founded in March 2024 by Jake Wagner and Dillon Zahler, never named an end user for the project, and fierce local opposition and the threat of a lawsuit drove the withdrawal, according to KMBC's reporting. The land had been annexed in December 2025, and neighbors learned of the rezoning request from a letter in the mail, then lined the road with signs reading "Protect our children. No data center." "The open land, the dark nights, and our quiet," said Lindsay Museousky, on why her family moved there, adding that Wolf Creek Elementary and Forest Spring Middle School are a mile and a half away.

The city's Facebook post on March 6 ended the plan before the special March 25 hearing was ever held. "This is probably round one," neighbor Jennifer Caldwell said. "My question is, what's next? And where is it going?" Laura Harrell, who lives down the road, said, "Yay! So, so happy, and I know the dogs will be happy."
