Data centers in Hong Kong: 13 projects mapped
Hong Kong's biggest new data center is being built at Sandy Ridge in the North District, just across the Shenzhen River from Shenzhen. On March 2, 2026, the government granted the 110,000-square-meter site for 50 years to Hong Kong Range Intelligent Computing Technology Company, part of the mainland's Range Intelligent Computing Technology Group, for HK$581 million; it was the only bid. Construction began later in March, and the company expects to start operating within 42 months.
The company plans to invest HK$23.8 billion in its first three years, with 250,000 square meters of floor space, about 180 skilled jobs and 180,000 petaflops of computing power by 2032. The power company CLP, which serves the northern New Territories, says it can support the demand, but engineer Edmund Leung warned in The Standard that large facilities need substations and cable routes planned early, "otherwise, bottlenecks will inevitably emerge."
Hong Kong's existing data centers sit mostly in Tseung Kwan O, Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung and Fo Tan, run by operators including Equinix, AirTrunk, Vantage, Digital Realty, NTT and the mainland carriers China Mobile and China Telecom.
