Data centers in Sarpy County, Nebraska: 5 projects mapped

Sarpy County has five operating data centers: Meta's campus in Springfield, Google's in Papillion, two TierPoint sites in Bellevue and Papillion, and H5 Data Centers in La Vista. Meta's four-million-square-foot Springfield campus is the county's largest and one of the few in the country where a company publishes its own water use.

From 2020 to 2024, Meta's campus withdrew between 26.7 million and 37.5 million gallons of water a year from the local supply, cooling its buildings with a mix of evaporative and closed-loop systems, according to figures Meta self-reports. Google, which built its Papillion site in 2019, reports its Nebraska water use differently, by consumption rather than withdrawal, and does not break the number out by site.

A law passed in the Nebraska Legislature's 2026 session will require the state Department of Water, Energy and Environment to start collecting annual water and energy figures from data centers later this year. Until then, the public figures on any Sarpy County site come only from the companies themselves.
