Project Spalding data center, Griffin, Georgia

Project Spalding is a data center campus of about 2.4 million square feet that Montana Property Group LLC plans on 133 acres at High Falls Road and Alicia Drive outside Griffin, in Spalding County, Georgia. The Spalding County Board of Commissioners approved the project in 2025, the first of three data center campuses the county has approved along High Falls Road, and the latest plan shows three buildings plus a power station.

The land belongs to Alan R. Mobley, who owns 86.81 acres on High Falls Road and 46.1 acres on Alicia Drive, and the county rezoned it from agricultural-residential and single-family residential to C-1C light manufacturing for the data center. Montana Property Group's state filing put the value at build-out at $1.875 billion, with about $26.859 million a year in local taxes, and build-out by 2030; no end user has been named.

The plan came to light in March 2025 through a state filing, and resident Greg Berns pressed commissioners in April 2025, asking, "Why has there been no public discourse about this?" Berns warned the campus would use more power and water than the entire county and make noise "equivalent to a small airplane."

Spalding County approved a second campus across High Falls Road, Spalding Investments LLC's data centers, in 2025, and in January 2026 approved a third, larger campus nearby over objections from residents and the Altamaha and Flint Riverkeepers. Inside the city of Griffin itself, the city commission passed a 180-day moratorium on data centers in January 2026 and is weighing rules to allow only smaller data centers by special permit.

The Spalding County Board of Commissioners requires acoustic walls and sidewalks of this campus, conditions a commissioner later asked be added to the county's other approved campuses too.
