Vantage Data Centers' Santa Clara I data center campus, at 2820 Northwestern Parkway in Santa Clara, Santa Clara County, covers 21 acres. Six multi-story buildings hold more than 335,000 square feet and 77 megawatts of power. Vantage says the campus is the largest LEED Platinum certified data center campus in North America, cooling with a chilled water loop and reclaimed water from a water treatment plant.

Santa Clara owns its electric utility, Silicon Valley Power, which charges 18.2 cents a kilowatt hour, 57 percent less than neighboring PG&E, and the city says it collects about $29.5 million a year from its data centers. That revenue funds police, parks, libraries and other resident services. "Our bills are about $130 for the electricity, the garbage and the water," a resident of Santa Clara Square, an apartment complex surrounded by data centers, told the New York Post.
