Data centers in Cobb County, Georgia: 4 projects mapped

Cobb County, northwest of Atlanta, has banned new data centers in its unincorporated areas while it writes rules for them. Commissioners passed the moratorium on February 24, 2026, extended it in August, and it now runs to early February 2027. The county's cities are not covered: Marietta has approved a 108-megawatt data center at 1751 Bells Ferry Road for Grind Capital Group and, in August 2026, an 18-megawatt conversion at 1155 Powers Ferry Place.

Neighbors near Bells Ferry Road organized as Not For Us, Cobb County, disputing the developer's estimate of 40 permanent jobs; public records they gathered put the number at five to twenty. At the Powers Ferry Place hearing, residents raised noise and runoff into Rottenwood Creek, and the city's own review found its zoning code has no data center standards and that part of the site sits in the floodplain. "Are you kidding me? You represent us, not them," someone shouted from the crowd after Councilman Daniel Gaddis asked for order. The Cobb Chamber of Commerce backed the project anyway.
