Data centers in Kaufman County, Texas: 1 project mapped
Flexential, a Colorado-based colocation company, announced on July 28, 2026 that it had bought 110 acres in Talty, about 20 minutes east of Dallas, for what will be its fourth and largest data center campus in Dallas-Fort Worth. The first phase is a 375,000-square-foot building with 36 megawatts of capacity; two more 36-megawatt buildings could follow, for 108 megawatts in all. Site work begins in early 2027, with the first customers moving in late 2028.
The city next door says it has no say: Talty officials told NBC 5 that the property was released from the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction earlier in 2026 under state law, after a petition was filed with Kaufman County. No hearing or resident statement on the Flexential campus has appeared in local coverage.

Talty is not alone: the Dallas Morning News reported developers are planning hundreds of acres of data centers across one of the fastest-growing counties in the country, including a 200-megawatt campus Prometheus Hyperscale plans on a 500-acre site between Talty and Post Oak Bend, its first in Texas. The county's cities are splitting over them. Forney raised its required setback from homes to 5,000 feet in April and in July directed staff to draft a citywide ban on data centers, due back for public hearings before a final vote.
Gov. Greg Abbott has asked lawmakers to take up data center rules in the 2027 session, including requiring new facilities to add power to the grid, and has directed regulators to audit the energy and water use of proposed data centers, which The Real Deal described as a moratorium. Flexential's first building is not due to open until 2028.
