Beale Infrastructure is building the Project Blue data center south of Tucson in Pima County, Arizona. Construction vehicles began clearing the desert by April 2026 as residents protested outside the site near the county fairgrounds.
Tucson voted against annexing the land, which stopped Beale from using Tucson Water, but the developer continued the project through Pima County. Amazon Web Services had been the intended end user, and the Tucson Sentinel reported that it seemingly backed out after the cooling plans changed.
